There are two parts to creating that consistent, predictable flow of ideal clients:

1. You need the skills and systems.

2. You need the right attitude and behaviors.

The skills without the behaviors will mean you will be inconsistent. You don’t implement what you know how to do.

The attitude without the skills means you’re all fired up, but have no clear, practical plan.

I usually focus on teaching solid, applicable marketing and selling skills.

But the ‘mindset’ piece has been critical for my own progress as well.

I take a skeptical – sometimes crossing over to cynical – view of many in the “heart based business” and “conscious business” crowd for reasons I’ll leave for another time.

Someone once observed that “A belief is not an idea that is held by the mind. It is an idea that holds the mind.”

So true. We are all held back by the stories we tell ourselves. By our beliefs about what is possible. About what we deserve. About what a particular success, or setback, really means.

And we’re usually unaware of the beliefs that “hold” our minds and how they affect our attitudes, decisions, behaviors and results.

The best way to become aware of how a belief “holds” your mind is to be questioned. To be challenged. When someone questions something you take as a given, it’s the first step in freeing you from one idea and enabling your mind to be “held” by a more exciting and profitable one.
