That was the question I got by email from “Mark,” a business owner I spoke with last week.
He is considering enrolling in my Plenty of Clients 100 Day Sprint.
And he knows that what we do in the program is help consultants, coaches and other experts to build a simple, repeatable marketing and selling system. A system that adds at least $100,000 in sales in the first 12 months . And grows from there.
It’s a fair question. And here’s my answer:
—
Hi Mark,
I don’t have any percentages to give you, but I can tell you what I’ve noticed about those who make rapid progress – building a life-changing consistent flow of clients.
1. They’ve already mastered their craft. Building a steady, consistent, predictable flow of ideal clients is not the first mountain they’ve set out to climb. They’ve already invested years of their lives into mastering their core area of expertise. And they love it.
And..
2. They have an “Inner Knowing” that they’re heading where they’re meant to be heading. They KNOW their skills and expertise makes a big difference in the lives of their own ideal clients. All they want is a steady flow of ideal clients. Clients give them the chance to do what they love – and be well paid for it.
And because they have that Inner Knowing that they’re on their path for a reason…
3. They implement. Imperfectly. Before they’re ‘ready.’ They DO what we agree they should do, even when they’re unsure if it will work. They put one foot in front of the other, even when there’s no guarantee of success.
They know that mastery means to grasp subtleties and nuances of your craft. Subtleties the novice walks right past. And such mastery of nuance comes only from DOING the things your mentor shows you to do.
It can’t be taught in a book. An info-product. Or a seminar. You need to do it. And have some success. And some setbacks. And no one can do that for you.
Therefore, they are the ones who…
4. Are willing to give themselves the time it takes. Many people are in a rush. They’re under pressure to make more money, like, last month. And so they’re not looking to learn and master so much as to get a financial fix.
But the ones who succeed are the ones who come in saying “OK. I know I can make rapid progress. But I also know that to build this in a sustained way will take time. And I’m going to give myself the time.”
Around here we distinguish between “Rushing” and “A Sense of Urgency.”
Rushing is when you try to make things go faster than they’re naturally able to go. You can’t rush your wheat crop. You’ll kill it. You can’t make your bread bake faster. You’ll burn the outside while the inside is raw.
A sense of urgency ensures that you don’t allow things to take any longer than they need. It keeps you moving as fast as possible – but without rushing.
And since they give themselves the time to succeed…
5. They are consistent. They know that no single action is going to hit the ball out of the park. (And if they do get lucky, they enjoy it while continuing to build for system. Luck isn’t reliable. System is.) Each week they do their work. They tackle that next small step.
And…
6. They take responsibility for their successes and setbacks. I take responsibility for helping you master the skills you need to get where you want to be. I’ll review your work and give you direction. I’ll help you stay the course and avoid distractions. But at the end of the day, you are responsible for your own success. And setbacks. No one can do it for you – just like no one did it for you when you mastered your craft.
And because they take that responsibility…
7. They push through setbacks. If you’re already mastered your craft you know that just when you think you’ve got those balls going up and down in a rhythm, life throws a melon, or a flaming torch, into your juggling mix.
Those who quit are those who quit elsewhere in life as well. They’re the ones who, when life throws them a curve ball, will conclude that either (1) “It won’t work.” or (2) “I don’t have what it takes.”
Both are wrong.
The clients who thrive see it differently. A setback is simply an opportunity to grow new skills.
So that’s it. A rather long answer to a short question.
And as you can see, my success stories come from rather exceptional people.
BUT , I do know that you might very well be our next success story.
If you’ve got the seven qualities spelled out above, and you’ve been looking for the right coach to help you create your own steady, consistent, predictable flow of ideal clients, then you and I should chat.
Go here now see the overview – and request an application to the Plenty of Clients 100 Day Sprint. It’s a way for us to begin to get to know each other. And who knows where that might lead?
