“My husband thinks I should be able to do this myself.”

A client, before enrolling, wrote me that she was in talks with her husband about the investment she wanted to make in getting coaching for herself.

He thinks I already have the tools to be able to succeed and this may be a very expensive crutch I don’t need.

Plus I have bought other business-building programs over the years so what is so different here.

This one we mainly have addressed, but I think he still has a lingering feeling that I should just get over myself and succeed already. But if I need this then he wants me to have it.

But just not go into debt over it.

That was almost the sound of great potential drying up.

The truth is, as someone wisely observed, “You have to do it yourself, but no one can do it alone.”

When you’re under financial pressure, the common, average response is to tighten your belt. Bolt the doors and tell yourself “I’ll just have to do this alone somehow. I’m not going to buy anything else. I can’t afford it.”

But that’s merely a perpetuation of the kind of thinking that got you where you are.

The truth is that we all need help. We all need an outside coach or mentor to help us deeply learn what we need to learn – so we can grow.

Information and training is highly valuable. And it helps a lot.

But nothing enables you to break out the way mentoring and coaching does.

And it’s going to cost money. Often a lot of money.

Personally, I’m spending more on coaching for myself right now than many people earn in a year.

Why? Because last year was somewhat stagnant. It was good, but I was capable of much more. And if I was going to be serious about growing my business further, I needed some coaching myself too.

Not because I lacked information, but because I lacked the support and perspective you only get from a coach who’s willing to tell you what you need to hear. As uncomfortable as that may sometimes be.
