The other day I talked with a gentleman who had grown his business, profitably, to more than $60,000,000 in sales.
But then he decided that to grow further, he should bring in a professional management team.
And so he did.
It didn’t take long before he had this gut feeling that he had made a big mistake.
But he ignored his gut. “Hush!” he said. “Give it time. Let’s see what happens.”
Sure enough, the professional managers drove his company into the ground.
Eventually, he was forced into a fire-sale and bankruptcy.
Intellectually, he had known he needed some help to grow his business further. And he believed the right way to get the help was to hire the professionals.
But when they rolled up their sleeves, his gut began to murmur.
At that point he was caught in a common dilemma. A form of the sunk-cost syndrome, you’re surely familiar with: You’ve committed to something for good reasons. But then you get this feeling.
You may not be able to put your finger on precisely what’s concerning you.
So you tend to ignore your gut and keep moving, hoping things will fall into place.
As much as we value rational, logical reasons for doing things, that’s only half the source of intelligence.
The other half is your gut.
The problem is that your gut can only murmur and mumble.
You need to give your gut a megaphone.
That’s one of the benefits my clients get in our Plenty of Clients Implementation Program.
When you’re working on your business with a small group of outstanding peers and (ahem) a decent coach, they can hear your gut even when you would tend to ignore it.
They can often put their fingers on what you’re only sensing. Giving you intellectual ammunition for your decisions as well.
So give your gut a megaphone. We accept a very small number of new clients in the Plenty of Clients Implementation Program each month. Why? Because I give everyone personal help and attention.
If your gut tells you that working with me to build your own steady, consistent, predictable flow of ideal clients might be a good idea, here’s what you should do right now:
