How to find someone to sell your coaching, consulting, etc.

Is it possible to hire someone to sell your consulting, coaching or other expertise-based service?

Ideally, you’d find someone who works only on commission. They’d pound the [digital?] pavement for you, do the slick-talking sales thing — and you — well YOU’d get to just do the work with clients you love most.

And bank big checks.

Ahhh, if only it were so.

The Reality is more like this:

When you hire someone to do the ‘hard’ work of selling for you because you haven’t mastered it yourself, they won’t make sales.

Why not?

Because if you can’t sell your expertise yourself, you will not know what to look for in a salesperson.

You’ll bring in the wrong person.

Even if you could spot a good one, if you don’t already have an effective marketing and selling system, the best sales people will see no reason to want to work for you.

The system is a must. It’s unavoidable.

Many consultants who’ve floundered with marketing and sales look to hire someone because, their unspoken wish is: “Hey, I’m going to hire you, and you figure out a system for me, OK?”

But to really sell, a good salesperson needs to be inserted into an existing system.

You put a chef in a chemistry lab and he’s gonna break things.

Put him in a first-class kitchen and he’ll bake things.

It’s the same with a good sales person. Put him in your already functioning ‘client enrollment kitchen’ and he can turn out even more sales for you.

But without an oven or ingredients, he’ll look busy – and produce nothing.

And THAT is why hiring salespeople before you have a functioning marketing and selling system doesn’t work.

It’s also why if you’re serious about turning your expertise into a thriving business, you’ve GOT to master the process of attracting and enrolling your ideal clients.

Because only after you’ve grown yourself, mastered the skills along the way, will you be ready to hire others to help you take your sales further.
