A few weeks ago he sent an email out to 46 companies he’d like to be doing business with.
A week went by.
Not even ONE reply. Nothing. Complete silence. He was IGNORED.
“Send me the email you sent them,” I said after hearing about it.
In a moment I could see what was wrong.
- The subject line didn’t create curiosity. When contacting a prospect, create curiosity. That makes it impossible to ignore you.
- The body copy was waaay too long. Keep your copy focused on getting your prospect to take one, clear, simple next step. And nothing more.
- And it was trying to do too many things at once. Don’t give your background, credentials, or whatever. Your first job is to just get a reply.
I showed Greg how to redo the email. We quickly wrote a new subject line that couldn’t help but make the recipient curious.
And we tightened up the body copy so it was focused on one thing only: Making them WANT to respond and begin a conversation. That’s IT.
Greg went back and sent this new email to those 46 companies again.
The results…
Within 48 hours he had 7 responses.
That’s a 15% response rate, up from ZERO.
And the best part is that through our back-and-forth, Greg now knows how to do this himself.
