Book agent says “No, too intelligent.” Amazon customers say “Yes!” and buy the book.

When I logged into my Amazon account yesterday, they were featuring an article about an author who had been “discovered” by Amazon customers.

“Before Amazon customers helped make her young-adult novel an award winner, agents told Regina Sirois her book was ‘too intelligent.'”

H. L. Menkin famously said “No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.”

It’s nice to be reminded that the Internet gives voice to intelligence just as it gives voice to nonsense and inanity, isn’t it?

I found Regina’s story to be personally satisfying because it’s the approach I’ve taken with everything I do.

I refuse to dumb things down.

I refuse to become the ‘coach’ who writes you emails that sound like I’ve inhaled helium before sitting down to write.

I refuse to make things too complicated in order to justify my existence.

Instead, I focus on the intelligent coach, consultant and expert.

The student, not the wannabee.

Those who work hard – they just want to know that they’re working hard on the right things.

The ones who want to master a small set of life-changing skills.

If you’ve been disappointed with marketing advice that is overly simplistic or needlessly complicated…

…And you want something that is “intelligent” while being clear, practical and walks you to your very next steps, you should get your hands on this.
