Walking past the Banksy in your own backyard…

I’d never heard of Banksy until last week.

As you may or may not know, Banksy is a British graffiti artist who has managed to remain anonymous – and notorious – for over twenty years.

Some of his work sells for tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars. Others are painted over or sand-blasted into smithereens.

Kind of an interesting paradox, no?

But it’s the same for you and me – some people will highly value your work. Others? They’ll tear it down.

Well Banksy spent this past month in New York City, leaving behind a new ‘installation’ each day.

On October 12th he set up an art stand near Central Park. Signed Banksy originals were on sale for $60 a piece.

Hundreds of people walked by paying no attention.

At 2:30pm he finally made his first sale to a tourist from New Zealand who negotiated a 50% discount!

Total intake for the day: $420. BUT the VALUE of the paintings sold is in the tens of thousands of dollars!

If you had walked by that stand, would you have seen the value looking right back at you?

Most people don’t. I wouldn’t have.

And it’s the same when it comes to attracting your own steady, consistent, predictable flow of your ideal clients.

A client of mine ran a survey a few years back and got some very valuable information and insight.

But he couldn’t see it.

When he looked at people’s responses, he simply didn’t see the valuable angles.

And because he was ‘walking past the Banksy’ his business remained stuck.
